Life gets cluttered. Fast. With obligations, work, and people.

With the ideas in The Power Of Less, Leo Babauta proposes a way to make it simple. In every chapter, the power of less repeats the basic principles

  1. Make lists of the most important things

2. Cut down to the essential

3. Commit to doing them in simple steps

4. Be consistent

He emphasizes the importance of focus. By eliminating distractions and sticking to the main task, you achieve more than when you try to do a million things at once.

He also advocates for simplifying goals, tasks, and assignments into bite-sized tasks. This makes everything less insurmountable. Consistency is a crucial element in applying the principles in The Power of Less.

I was impressed with how the book offered practicable steps on implementing Babauta’s recommendation. They can be easily adapted to any situation. But then I believe everyone should take the principles and not adapt to them without thinking about what works for them and their environment.

The book got a bit tiring at a point because each chapter was built on the same points. Babauta seemed to be repeating himself. But I think it was necessary to explain everything in detail so that readers get the best value from the book. If you are looking for a way to live a simpler and more productive life, you should read The Power of Less
